Fellowship Program Highlights
Highlights of the Rheumatology fellowship program include:
- Year-round hospital consultation service at University of Mississippi Medical Center and the VA Medical Center
- Multiple half-day fellow/faculty University Pavilion clinics per week
- Fellow VA Medical Center clinics
- Experience with Rheumatology Infusion Service
- Access to musculoskeletal ultrasound and support for training
- Training in managing metabolic bone disease and osteoporosis with access to bone mineral densitometry and certified interpretation with clinical recommendations
- Elective rotations in a number of relevant fields such as pediatric rheumatology, dermatology, musculoskeletal radiology, sports medicine, neuromuscular neurology, and others
- Extensive offering of educational conferences with faculty involvement that includes clinical cases, clinical and basic topic review, journal club, multidisciplinary conference, core and special topics in internal medicine
- Support for buying textbooks, travel to regional and national conferences, board review materials, and presentations
- Strong focus on scholarship and quality improvement
